The Victorian Government is serious about renewable energy and there are many benefits for companies and homeowners who are wanting to reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency.
One of the benefits is Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs).
Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs) are created through the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target (VEET) scheme. Businesses and households can receive VEECs for implementing energy-efficient measures, such as:
- Replacing inefficient appliances
- Installing insulation
- Upgrading lighting systems
What Is VEECs?
Each energy-efficient upgrade is assigned a number of VEECs based on its carbon emission savings, and these VEECs can then be traded on market.
A VEECs is created through a process of accreditation and verification. Accredited providers, (in our case Green Energy) which have been authorized by the Essential Services Commission, oversee the energy-efficient measures carried out by the businesses and households. They then issue VEECs to the businesses and households, which can be sold to other market participants such as energy retailers (Precision Plumbing Heating and Cooling) or brokers.
